Day 7

So it's day 7. Today has not been a very good day. Hana has been crying a lot, wanting out of the crate. I've been letting her sit on my lap and sleep on her pillow if she's good and calm, otherwise she's locked in her crate all day. She has also been crying in pain quite a bit. She just woke up from a deep sleep crying in pain like she did prior to the surgery. If this happens tomorrow I'm going to call the doctor and make sure this is normal. Her pain meds don't seem to knock her out like they did at first either, which makes me wonder if she's building some kind of a tolerance? It really just kills me to see her crying in pain since I can't reassure her that this will all be worth it.

Since today was pretty rotten and I'm drained, I don't really have it in me to write anything else. I'll leave you with two pictures that I took of Hana on my lap.

Oh, and Happy Holidays! Matt had never tried Matzo so I bought a box, along with some Passover chocolate bars that I loved while growing up. Here is Matt's first matzo, haha.

  1. Be patient, Andrea. Poor little Hana had a lot of surgery. She is probably bored to tears and feeling uncomfortable. I always leave the radio on during the day when the girls are crated and we watch TV together at night. I think the sights and sounds distract them - particularly Pugsley. I can never watch any of the dog shows as she goes nuts. Maybe if you had the TV on when you hold her. Also, a friend of mine used to make fried matzo by soaking it in water (I think) and then frying it with onions - very tasty! She would come to Easter at my house and then I would join her for Seder at hers.

  2. Hi Stephanie,

I'm trying to be patient, I just feel so sorry for her and want her to be healed already. :( Plus I was having major sleep deprivation when I wrote that last blog, so I probably sounded more frustrated than I really was. It's so hard to watch her be so helpless. I try to always leave the radio on during the day too, usually talk radio so they can hear voices. I like to hold her on my lap while the TV is on, but if she's too restless I put her back in the crate- I can't take the chance of her jumping off my lap. Harvey barks at dogs on TV too! It's too funny. The dog training shows are the worst, he growls and makes noises and barks at them.

Fried matzo I have never heard before but it sounds pretty good! I'm going to ask my mom if she's tried it.
